Tom has been involved with Coca-Cola since January, 2005 when he joined a small internal group as the first outside person to be part of Coca-Cola’s Global Interactive Marketing Team. He’s delivered major global online offerings including the M5 Aluminum Bottle project, FIFA World Cup online experiences, and the July 2006 re-launch of Coca‑Cola.com, which has earned more industry recognition that any site the Company has ever launched, including “Site of the Year” by the British Interactive Marketing Association. He currently leads several global initiatives, including “innovation & partnership” program, search marketing, and iAgency management.
Prior to joing Coca‑Cola, Tom was an entrepeneur founding a company called Relevant Ventures. In addtion to offering consulting in the interactive space, Relevant Ventures also publishes and markets the children’s book a series “Sometimes I Work in…” (Tom is the author), which have been featured in television and print news stories in the U.S. and around the world. Relevant Ventures also owns a stake in Usentio, a provider of patent-pending approach to usability testing and user experience risk management.
Before setting up shop on his own, Tom was U.S. Head of eBusiness for ING, one of the world’s largest financial services companies. Responsible for all aspects of ING’s U.S. online presence, Tom created positive interactions with customers and prospects, experiencing order of magnitude increases in all key metrics while reducing costs and improving effectiveness.
An early believer in interactive marketing and emerging technologies, he started the Interactive Communications Group at UPS in 1995. There, he championed early experiments with start ups like Yahoo! and DoubleClick. Quickly, Tom was recognized (one of only 21 so honored in 1997) as a “Digital Media Master” by Ad Age, the leading U.S. advertising trade journal.
He is active with the Mobile Marketing Association (as a board member and Treasurer of MMA North American) which is the perfect platform to channel the passion, innovation and “get it done” spirit he’s demonstrated throughout his career and on behalf of The Coca‑Cola Company.
